#NEW : In response to generative AI, policymakers across the U.S. are exploring ways to address some of the risks associated with AI-generated content, also known as “synthetic” content. A new FPF blog post by Senior Policy Analyst Jameson Spivack explores U.S. legislative trends in AI-generated content for 2024 and beyond. Key insights include: ➡️ Legislative proposals to regulate synthetic content primarily focus on authentication, transparency, and restrictions on certain uses. ➡️ Legislative approaches to synthetic content must be carefully considered to assess feasibility and impact, including on other policy issues like free expression. ➡️ Policymaker interest in regulating synthetic content will likely continue in 2025, though the area of focus may change.
