2023 was quite the year. 

From launch to tracking satellites. Saying goodbye and saying hello. Keeping the kids inspired and finally getting some balance back. 

But one of my proudest moments was being asked to be a Fellow of the Royal Aeronautical Society !

For a little girl who went to Airshows in Canada, being part of such a historical society that now represents the future of our industry, is such a dream come true.

I am excited to continue to show the world how we can use space technology to do Good. 

And how women from all backgrounds can lead in it.

When Astrobotic’s Peregrine spacecraft experienced a propulsion anomaly during its historic attempt to land on the Moon, Slingshot was tapped by Space Exploration Engineering (SEE) to quickly step in and provide supplemental tracking data to support orbit estimation and re-entry planning for Peregrine. 

The Slingshot Global Sensor Network collected multiple observations of the spacecraft over the period of a week – which at the furthest point of collection was at lunar distance, ~390,000 km from Earth.

Slingshot Aerospace is proud to be providing software solutions and subject matter expertise for the Air Force Research Laboratory’s (AFRL) Oracle-M cislunar mission!

Oracle-M, AFRL's inaugural cislunar mission, was developed in partnership with US Space Force Space Systems Command (SSC) and is on track to be delivered in mid-2024. This pathfinder mission aims to perform experiments on space object detection and tracking in cislunar space - providing the foundation for sustainable lunar exploration.

Slingshot’s core mission is to make space safe, sustainable, and secure - which extends into deep space. We are proud to be at the forefront of helping to develop SSA capabilities that reach beyond Earth’s orbit and allow for responsible cislunar exploration.

Slingshot Aerospace has been selected by NOAA's Office of Space Commerce (OSC) to be a part of the first commercial data order for the Traffic Coordination System for Space (TraCSS). Slingshot will provide low Earth orbit (LEO) space situational awareness (SSA) data and services for the TraCSS Consolidated Pathfinder.

In this initial phase of TraCSS, Slingshot will collect critical spacecraft and debris tracking data that will inform the development of the TraCSS operational system and assess industry capabilities to maintain a LEO space object catalog. Slingshot will be working alongside LeoLabs and COMSPOC to conduct the Consolidated Pathfinder for LEO SSA.

The Slingshot Global Sensor Network will provide ground-based-optical space object tracking data for this project, leveraging its global network of day/night telescopes and newly-deployed optical fence systems – which were developed specifically to detect and track LEO space objects at scale.

We are excited for this new era of partnership between the Office of Space Commerce and commercial SSA providers. The TraCSS operational system will play a critical role in ensuring spaceflight safety and clearly aligns with our mission of making space safe, sustainable, and secure. 

This is a monumental step toward civil space traffic coordination, and we are proud to be at the forefront of this historical shift.
