Alberta has implemented policies restricting medical transition procedures for children, including gender-altering surgery and puberty blockers. Parental consent will be required for changes in pronouns at school, and women-only sporting divisions will be off-limits for transgender athletes. The government plans to regulate transgender sport competitions and ensure that women and girls have the choice to compete in women’s only divisions. Additionally, children 15 years of age and under will require parental consent if they express a desire to change pronouns or names at school, while parents will be informed of their child's decision. The government will also tighten teaching on gender identity and sexual matters in schools, requiring pre-approval of third-party resource materials or presentations related to gender identity, sexual orientation, or human sexuality in K-12 school systems.
