AMD's upcoming Ryzen 8950X Zen 5 CPU and Zen 5 architecture are expected to offer significant performance improvements, with a 12-21% increase in single-threaded performance and an 18-40% increase in multi-threaded performance compared to its predecessor. AMD CEO Dr. Lisa Su expressed excitement about the upcoming Zen 5 processors, stating that customer feedback on the next-gen EPYC server processors based on Zen 5 has been very strong. Leaked benchmark scores for a Ryzen 8950HS engineering sample indicate impressive performance gains, and the Ryzen 8955HX, rumored to be a chiplet-based processor with 16 Zen 5 CPU cores and a 40-CU RDNA 3.5 GPU, is said to perform similarly to the Ryzen 8950X. AMD also squashed a bug that impacted Zen 4 security features in Linux, and leaked specs suggest that Zen 5 will feature core design improvements, doubling the core count and increasing IPC by 15%. An alleged die shot of AMD's upcoming hybrid CPU with Zen 4 and Zen 4c cores, known as Phoenix 2, has also been leaked, positioning it as a lower-cost APU for cheaper laptops.
