A Belgian man with auto-brewery syndrome (ABS), a rare condition causing alcohol production in his body, was acquitted of a drink-driving charge as Belgian courts acknowledged his unique medical circumstances. Despite registering high alcohol levels in breathalyser tests, he had not consumed alcohol. ABS, a condition with around 20 known cases globally, poses challenges in accurate diagnosis.
