After a 7.2 magnitude earthquake in Taiwan, Canadian Nicolas Lapointe, initially missing, was found safe near a hotel in Taroko National Park. Three Canadians were rescued amidst the aftermath. Global Affairs Canada confirmed the safety of Lapointe and reported that 5,518 Canadian citizens are registered in Taiwan.
