Chicago's business activity unexpectedly expands, marking its first expansion in over a year, with the Chicago Business Barometer surging to 55.8 from 44.0 in October. Most components improved in November, with production activity shooting up nearly 16 points to 62.4, while new orders, inventories, and supplier deliveries also increased to levels above 50. Order backlogs ticked up but remained in contraction. Prices paid were largely stable at 59.9, still below average levels for the last three years.
