Indonesia and the ADB have reached a provisional deal to close a coal-fired power plant seven years earlier than planned, as part of the ADB's Energy Transition Mechanism program. The closure aims to reduce carbon emissions and align with the Just Energy Transition Partnership's goal to peak emissions by 2030. The deal involves the Indonesian state-owned power utility company, independent power producer, and the Indonesia Investment Authority, and is expected to close in the first half of 2024.
