The European Investment Fund (EIF) has not yet made investments from its €3.75bn fund of funds, the European Tech Champions Initiative (ECTI), designed to support European scaleups through VCs raising funds of €1bn or more. Funding is provided by the European Investment Bank and governments of Germany, France, Spain, Italy, and Belgium. Concerns arise regarding the high investment bar, lack of local investors, potential support for private equity funds, non-European VCs receiving funding, and alignment with the European ecosystem.
