France has issued an arrest warrant for Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, accusing him of complicity in crimes against humanity over the 2013 chemical attacks against Syria's population. The warrants are the first international arrest warrants for Assad and the first international arrest warrants for the use of chemical weapons in Syria. The warrants also target other senior officials, including Assad's brother and two former defense ministers.
