H&M Raises Prices to Cover Higher Wages in Bangladesh

H&M is increasing prices for garments made in Bangladesh to cover higher worker wages, following weeks of protests. The company will absorb the increase in the minimum monthly wage mandated by the government, which is set to rise to 12,500 taka ($113). Garment workers in Bangladesh have been protesting for higher wage increases, demanding $208 a month. The protests have led to factory closures and violence, resulting in the death of three workers. Bangladesh is the second-largest exporter of ready-made garments in the world, after China.
