Iranian Rapper Toomaj Salehi Released on Bail After Supporting Protests

Iranian rapper Toomaj Salehi has been released on bail after being jailed for over a year for supporting nationwide protests sparked by Mahsa Amini's death. Salehi was sentenced to six years in prison on charges of 'corruption on earth.' Another prominent actor, Hanieh Tavassoli, has been handed a six-month prison term and a fine for 'publishing false content with the intention of disturbing the public.' The unrest following Amini's death resulted in hundreds of deaths and thousands of arrests, and seven men have been executed in protest-related cases. The Supreme Court upheld a death sentence over the killing of a Revolutionary Guard officer during the protests.
