Meta Faces Calls for Documents and Lawsuits over Teen Mental Health

Meta, the owner of Instagram and Facebook, is facing calls for documents and emails from US senators regarding its handling of teen mental health on its platforms. The senators accuse Meta of concealing and misrepresenting its knowledge of the harmful effects of its platforms on young users. Meta has also called for parental control laws to be implemented and is supporting federal legislation that would require parental approval for app downloads for users under the age of 16.
