UK economists call for a cut in the minimum wage to make the labor market more competitive. Wages in the UK are rising faster than prices, but concerns about job losses are emerging. Chancellor Jeremy Hunt plans to increase the national living wage to at least 11 an hour, benefiting two million of the lowest paid. The government is also reviewing benefit sanctions to encourage the unemployed back into work.
