This week we participated in the Ontario Fruit and Vegetable Convention at the Niagara Falls Convention Center.

This was our 3rd time attending the show.  This year, we brought only our commercial product offerings, including Naïo Technologies; FarmDroid; AGROINTELLI; VITIROVER; Burro.  INO also displayed their vision - camera technology as well.

Likely the highlight of the show was a conversation with one of our partners from Naïo Technologies, commenting on the "change" in farmer's opinions of AgRobotic technology over the years - and how it is rapidly shifting from "that looks interesting" to "that looks like something I can adopt".

3 years ago - farmers looked at the robots with curiousity.  While that still happens, this year more farmers look at them with expectations - how can I use this to improve my production practice?  How can I use this to alleviate some pain points in my farming operation, etc.

This shift has occurred for more than one reason.  One of the most important has to do with maturation of the product line.  I mean this in two ways.   The first is the robots are more reliable and proven (technological maturity).  The second is that we, as a company, have a better understanding of what technology is needed by our potential customers (company maturity).

The second cause of the shift has to do with the work of our Autonomous Working Group.  The meetings, discussions, demonstrations, and trials have helped us to better understand the market, and match the technology to the need, where this technology exists.  

All in all, it is an interesting journey.  We look forward to our collaboration with FCC AgExpert sponsored Innovation Farm, with support from Western Fair Association.  We greatly appreciate the assistance from OMAFRA and their staff with the Working Group, and look forward to the research projects moving forward.
