How does neuro-symbolic AI actually work?

It's quite simple. At build time, you use an LLM to ingest data or documents, or to interactively interview experts, in order to capture your business knowledge. The LLM helps to translate the business knowledge into a formal knowledge model with precise meaning and logical consistency.

Then you feed this into a formal reasoning engine to reliably solve hard problems with 100% accuracy and transparency. The answer generated by the reasoning engine is then translated back into natural language to the end-user of an application. This enables you to take advantage of the benefits of LLMs to interact with users fluently, and the benefits of formal reasoning to get 100% provably correct answers to complex problems. 

In a recent Google Cloud webinar I talked with Ali Arsanjani, PhD about how EC has built an AI architecture that interfaces with humans through LLMs but leverages a formal reasoning engine at the core.
