Origin Energy Limited, an integrated energy company, engages in the exploration and production of natural gas, electricity generation, wholesale and retail sale of electricity and gas, and sale of liquefied natural gas in Australia and internationally. The company operates through, Energy Markets, Integrated Gas, and Corporate segments. Its exploration and production portfolio includes the Bowen and Surat basins in Queensland; the Browse basin in Western Australia; and the Beetaloo basin in the Northern Territory. The company also generates electricity from coal, wind, pumped water storage, solar, and cogeneration plants; sells electricity, natural gas, and LPG; provides GreenPower and green gas products; and supplies LPG to residentials and businesses. In addition, it offers electric and gas hot water systems; split system air conditioners; ducted and space heating solutions; ducted evaporative cooling systems; and ducted reverse cycle air conditioning systems. Origin Energy Limited was incorporated in 1946 and is based in Barangaroo, Australia.

We employ hundreds of qualified engineers across several discipline areas who are integral to the safe and reliable operations and maintenance of our generation, gas production and LPG assets. 
 
We’re pleased to announce signing a 3-year partnership with Engineers Australia’s Engineering Workforce Credentialing (EWC) Program which will enhance our in-house engineering capabilities by supporting the our people's development. 
 
This partnership provides our engineers with a pathway to credentials and eventually chartership with Australia’s leading engineering body. This recognised accreditation is fundamental to individuals demonstrating competency and credibility as a professional in their chosen field.

It’s been a big year for our Origin Loop Virtual Power Plant (VPP), finishing up with over 1GW under control and a growing number of retail partners helping customers connect to their batteries to the platform. Hear from the Origin team and some of our retail partners as they reflect on the benefits Loop is helping deliver. 


We are helping Dreamworld install Australia’s largest theme park solar system with a 708-kW installation, expected to generate an estimated 21% of the park’s annual electricity usage while helping to reduce its carbon emissions by an estimated 21% per year. 

The view from atop the Eraring Power Station over looking at the large-scale battery being constructed at the site. The first stage involves the construction of a 460 MW battery storage system with a dispatch duration of two hours.

We're now close to completing the main civil works, a significant milestone and perhaps the most challenging part of this innovative project. Battery equipment will be supplied by Finnish technology group Wärtsilä, while design and construction services are being provided by Enerven, a subsidiary of SA Power Networks.

Congratulations to our head of eMobility, Chau Le, on the Women in Business award she received at the 2023 Pause Awards, which recognise the most ambitious and innovative companies in Australia.    
  
Origin is also thrilled to receive awards in two other categories, New Model and Going Green. These awards recognise the Origin 360 EV team's innovative business model, which is focused on helping Australians switch to cleaner transportation by offering a range of EV solutions.
