One of my friends and colleagues asked me to discuss EB1 processing so I decided I'd create a post about it so everyone can benefit from my experience. In addition to helping the #InternationalMedicalGraduates #IMGs who walk long ways to get to Green card, I believe this might help mitigate issues around #RuralHealthCare and #WorkforceShortages #PhysicianBurnOut #PhysicianWellBeing as well.. For those who dont know, EB1 is the extraordinary ability category created by the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS); while the regular H1B visa goes through EB2 processing that can take several years for immigrants from certain countries, EB1 processing garners shorter processing times. I am an Indian immigrant, who trained on J1 Visa and did a waiver; the wait period for Indians for permanent residency can be >10 years; The Sept 2024 processing times on the USCIS website show that for Indian applicants, those who filed in July 2012 are going through processing currently, 12+ years of wait time. Needless to say the families of such candidates may stay on the same visa status and it impacts their chances of getting into colleges/ schools as well, which is so unfair. I am sharing my personal experience and some relevant points that helped me file and successfully get to a faster EB1 processing and hence permanent residency.. That's why the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) recently put together a list of six principles for using AI in oncology care. These principles are designed to help balance the risks and rewards when it comes to AI. Debra Patt, MD PhD MBA , Chair of ASCO's AI Task Force, says that “we want patients to benefit from this tremendous innovation, and it’s a very exciting time." However, she continues, "we have to be cognizant and responsible about the fact that these tools might have bias and errors.
