Some really interesting news coming from the state of Victoria overnight where legislation has been passed, giving magistrates discretionary powers when it comes to medicinal cannabis patients and driving. 🪪 Last night the Victorian Parliament supported Legalise Cannabis Australia Cannabis amendments to the Road Safety laws giving magistrates discretion when dealing with cases of medicinal cannabis patients who test positive to a roadside drug test. The changes in Victoria mean that if a patient tests positive, the courts will decide if the driver was impaired by the medication, instead of drivers automatically losing their licence. Former Supervising Magistrate of the Drug Court Division Tony Parson’s report detailed a number of recommendations, and findings, remarking: "[It] is an odd situation to have a legal right (to take prescribed medicinal cannabis) then if you comply strictly with the obligations that come with that legal right, you can still be guilty of an offence. Have you ever heard the phrase 'go to the factory floor'?.... It's derived from the Japanese saying "Going to Gemba" which refers to managers visiting the shop floor to observe, learn and understand what is happening across every level of their business. It was Nelson Mandela who said “Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world." That was the reflection of Justin Sinclair ANTG's Chief Scientific Officer after presenting at the Chris O'Brien Lifehouse Palliative Care Study day yesterday. Justin presented an introduction to medicinal cannabis to an engaged audience, including nurses, doctors and staff. Driven by a passion for plant-based ingredients and sustainability, Angelique also founded NEEK Skin Organics, an all-natural, vegan cosmetics line. Under her leadership, NEEK Skin Organics grew to 15 products, available in 200 stores worldwide, including Urban Outfitters in the US and Ocado, UK. We have now met our donation target for the Black Dog Institute One Foot Forward campaign.... with a 14-strong team from our Brisbane office walking, running (& rolling!) in October during Mental Health Month for the 1 in 5 Australians who experience a mental illness each year.
