It’s hard to believe the infrastructure of an entire capital city could be wiped out within a matter of hours, but that’s what happened almost 50 years ago in Darwin. As the commemorations get underway next month to remember the dozens who lost their lives to Cyclone Tracy, I’ve written an article for the latest issue of Australian Geographic. It’s a 12-page spread with compelling images curated by Nicky Catley that really speak to the level of destruction and human impact. I spoke with countless survivors and helped to put their harrowing experiences into words.
