Precision Steelwork at Lourdes Hill College Walkway: Using 3D Scanning for Flawless Installation BridgeFAB recently brought Lourdes Hill College’s walkway vision to life with precision steelwork that seamlessly fits the existing structures on campus. We began by using a high-resolution 3D scanner to capture every contour and dimension of the project site. This point cloud data was then processed to create an exact 3D model of the area, enabling our design team to plan the steel framework with absolute accuracy—reducing site visits, potential errors, and rework. This 3D model became our blueprint, and every piece of steelwork was fabricated in our workshop according to its exact dimensions. By leveraging this data in our CAD software, we created a design that was tailored to fit Lourdes Hill College’s specifications without any need for on-site adjustments. Each prefabricated component was crafted to the millimeter, allowing us to accelerate the installation and reduce on-site labor costs significantly. For builders and architects, our 3D scanning process translates to faster project timelines, fewer material adjustments, and flawless fit from the start. The final stage of the project has been put on hold and is scheduled for installation in October.
