Globally acclaimed Pirie Sparkling from Tasmania has been awarded Best Sparkling and a Gold medal at the 2024 Royal Melbourne Wine Awards today. Brown Family Wine Group Senior Winemaker, Tom Wallace was there to accept the award alongside Katherine Brown , fourth-generation Brown family and Luxury Portfolio Manager at Brown Family Wine Group. Pirie Vintage 2020 won the Dr Tony Jordan Trophy for Best Sparkling, while Pirie NV took out a Gold medal. Tom said the team are thrilled with these results. “Pirie only comes together through exceptional teamwork. From meticulous pruning and monitoring of the grapes in the vineyard, through to the critical tirage process in the winery. We are extremely fortunate to have a wealth of sparkling knowledge and expertise in our winemaking team.” Pirie is one of Tasmania’s original producers of premium sparkling wine, named after the visionary viticulturist who boldly explored Tasmania's untapped potential for sparkling wine. ALIA is a peer and industry voted awards, and the event saw over 600 hospitality professionals gather at The Star Event Centre in Sydney. This shift will focus on urban wine experiences and significant growth outside its traditional Yarra Valley roots. This approach has resonated with wine lovers in Victoria, and more recently in Queensland and New South Wales, where the brand’s urban cellar door pop-ups have seen tremendous success. These pop-ups have allowed Innocent Bystander to connect with its core target consumer and bring the brand’s unique culture to life in urban settings. The brand’s pop-up urban cellar door is currently running at Babylon Mantle Group Hospitality , one of Sydney’s premier CBD venues, until October 27, 2024.
