Coles is proud to support Flavorite Group and Maddie Riewoldt's Vision this November, funding vital research and support for patients and families suffering from Bone Marrow Failure Syndromes. Thanks to the generosity of Flavorite and Coles customers, Maddie’s Month has raised an amazing $800,000 since 2016. This year the target is to donate a further $100k through a 15c donation on the sale of delicious, Flavorite Mini tomatoes 125g, Flavorite Mini capsicums 175g and Flavorite Vine-Ripened Cherry Truss tomatoes 200g sold exclusively at our stores. Recently we were delighted to host MasterChef’s, Andy Allen at Coles Head Office to cook a delicious lunch featuring Flavorite tomatoes and capsicums for patients with Bone Marrow Failure Syndromes and their families. #ProudlyColes

Coles Group has become Australia's first retailer to welcome an electric prime mover truck to our transportation network, with the heavy-duty vehicle now delivering groceries to hundreds of stores across Victoria. In partnership with Linfox , the electric vehicle (EV) will save more than 65 tonnes of CO2 emissions per year compared to a regular diesel-powered prime mover, which is the equivalent of removing 15 cars from the road. The Volvo FH can travel up to 300km on a single charge and is expected to make up to 25 deliveries from the Coles Laverton Distribution Centre each week to stores across Victoria, saving approximately 25,000 litres of fuel every year. In addition to the fuel and emission reductions, the EV is quieter to run, reducing noise pollution during store deliveries and for customers in residential areas, and requires no idling, eliminating further emissions and fuel consumption. Recently, Coles Group partnered with La Trobe University to host a two-day Industry Challenge and it was an outstanding experience! We had 35 Students from a range of disciplines come together in teams of five, led by facilitators Jahin Tanvir and Holly Winter to workshop innovative solutions to an industry challenge from our Coles Safety Team: What further steps can we take to prevent Slip, Trip & Fall Incidents? It was a pleasure to experience the challenge at both our Store Support Centre and the La Trobe Industry Digital Innovation Hub over the two days. There was an abundance of creativity, innovation, and problem solving throughout the challenge, which led to successful solutions. Coles team members were out in force last week to support the launch of Mum’s Jam, a new product developed by Coles to help raise funds for Hospitals United For Sick Kids . Store managers, product developers, category managers and team members from Corporate & Indigenous Affairs attended a special morning tea at Monash Children’s Hospital, one of eight alliance partners who will benefit from funds raised through the sales of Mum’s Jam. The new Mum’s Jam, available in raspberry and strawberry flavours, is an extension of the “Mum’s” brand, building on the successful fundraising efforts of the Mum’s Sause pizza and pasta sauces which have raised more than $3 million for Hospitals United for Sick Kids since 2019. Fifty cents from every Mum’s Jam product sold will be donated to Hospitals United for Sick Kids to help support projects and initiatives from The Common Good , Sydney Children's Hospitals Foundation (SCHF) , John Hunter Children’s Hospital ( Hunter New England Local Health District ), Perth Children's Hospital Foundation , Canberra Hospital Foundation , Monash Children’s Hospital ( Monash Health ), Women's & Children's Hospital Foundation and The Royal Hobart Hospital. Seven Seasons Spirits , is a premium distillery that uses native Australian ingredients to bring you a taste of the world’s oldest newest flavours, founded by Larrakia man Daniel Motlop . Daniel is an ex-professional footballer, having played a total of 130 senior games for North Melbourne Football Club and Port Adelaide Football Club in the AFL. Life after football, Daniel is investing his time and energy to showcase native ingredients and Indigenous food and has created a sustainable family business that passes down the knowledge of positive aboriginal culture and traditional methods of harvesting. The distillery’s products are inspired and guided by the Seven Seasons, as laid down by the Larrakia people in the Northern Territory, and Larrakia Lore. Coles Liquor ranges Seven Seasons products including award winning Green Ant Gin, Bush Honey Wattleseed Liqueur and Bush Apple Gin. The ingredients used to make the beverages are sustainably and ethically sourced, harvested only by Aboriginal harvesters. While the products themselves showcase a unique range of rich native ingredients, the stories behind the Indigenous supplier also highlight the connection to country and the inspiration it provides. Some of our blueberries have gone plastic free this season! Customers at select stores across northern NSW can now buy the much-loved fruit in a cardboard punnet that can be recycled kerbside, as part of a new trial in partnership with our blueberry supplier Mountain Blue and packaging solutions company Opal . Made from recycled FSC -certified paper* and featuring a unique transparent film produced from wood pulp, the trial marks a significant step in packaging innovation, with the aim to provide a plastic free alternative without compromising on the freshness and quality of the blueberries. We look forward to analysing the results from the trial and welcoming more packaging innovation to our stores. Since 2020, Caloundra-based, Indigenous family-owned business Beachtree Distilling Co. has been crafting delicious small-batch gin, vodka, and liqueurs with native-Australian ingredients. Steve Grace , a Kamilaroi man and Beachtree’s Master Distiller, and Kirra Daley , Beachtree's Co-Founder raised in Bundjalung Country, used their love for small batch distilling and Australian bush flavours to join hands to create Beachtree Distilling Co. Beachtree Distilling Co is Australia’s only certified Indigenous distillery and was awarded a $380,000 grant this year from the 12th round of the Coles Nurture Fund for its Re-spirits project, which transforms local and Indigenous waste from jam, spreads and cheese production, into flavorful and innovative spirits. Kirra said the Re-spirits program would have a significant impact on her business and many other local Indigenous farms. "The ethos of Beachtree Distilling Co. and our bush-to-bottle drinks are rooted in my childhood, raised on Bundjalung Country where I was taught to respect and understand land and country. We plan on using our grant to acquire equipment to repurpose what other local businesses consider waste to create our delicious spirits, with the aim to create a more circular economy and reduce waste.” The grant will also help with the installation of solar panels to enhance efficiency and sustainability.
