We’ve teamed up with Vodafone to implement a new intelligence sharing pilot, designed to help protect customers from rising SMS scams.

The pilot works by sharing SMS scam-related intelligence in near real-time, allowing Vodafone to identify and disrupt scammers, while helping CBA detect potentially fraudulent payments.

We are committed to playing our part to help keep Australians safe from scams, and cross-industry national collaboration is essential to help make Australia less attractive for the scammers.

Gaining perspective and insight into people's real and lived experiences keeps us connected, not just to our customers, but broader society. I was lucky enough to work on the launch of the Next Chapter program, CommBank's commitment to help end financial abuse, delivering on the efforts of some passionate advocates across CommBank. So I'm thrilled to now have the opportunity to mentor one of our Next Chapter Innovation Partners, Afghan Women on the Move. 

In our first meeting, CEO Maryam Zahid enriched me about the importance of tackling education via indirect means, such as craft, cooking and other activity-based gatherings amongst her community. We discussed the importance of visual and even audio where literacy may be problematic. As a mentor, my main role is to help unlock opportunities for Maryam to scale her ideas, to connect with thought leaders and specialists from across the bank and ultimately to listen, so we can enhance future programs with her invaluable community insight. 

Afghan Women on the Move is extraordinary, made possible by Maryam's passion, her volunteer army and those she has helped along the way. I'm proud of the support CommBank is providing to organisations like this to educate and hopefully prevent financial abuse before it happens. It starts with listening, awareness and education.”
