Since 1971 when David & Cathy Harris opened their first store in Villawood, we've believed in something greater than just selling fresh food. We’ve believed in nature itself. Australia’s favourite independent food retailer, Harris Farm Markets, proudly opened its doors in Canberra on Thursday, 29th May 2024. The community's anticipation has been building, and we are excited to finally bring our signature offerings to the heart of the capital.

Our new store at Majura Park features an extensive range of fresh fruit and vegetables, a remarkable plant-based selection, a variety of 600 cheeses and a comprehensive grocery range.

In addition, we have partnered with some amazing local and long-standing providers:
·     Three Mills Bakery is operating as our in-house bakery.
·     Fish In The Family offers the freshest seafood.
·     Proper Meat provides quality,old-fashioned cuts.
·     Salumi from the Byron Hinterlands for their natural charcuterie.

40 Million and counting … 

Back in 2014, Harris Farm launched Imperfect Picks, the first business in Australia to tackle the “ugly” fruit & veg problem.  

We wanted to start the conversation about food waste in Australia.  We wanted Australians to re-think how they bought fruit & veg in this country.   

We wanted to stop the thousands of kilos of fruit & veg being thrown out every day due to visual imperfections.   

We wanted to stop Aussie farmers from throwing out large portions of their crops because it doesn’t look good but eats perfectly well. Not only do farmers find it extremely uneconomical and much harder to survive but it also does damage to the environment, it’s a massive waste of resources, and also creates extra carbon output.   

Imperfect Picks are great for the farmer, great for the environment and great for our customers as they save up to 70%.   

We are immensely proud and pleased to announce that we have now sold over 40 MILLION KILOS of Imperfect Picks fruit & veg in our shops.
