Volunteering at Harmonee House - Boico! A simple act of kindness can have a big impact on someone’s life, making their day or week just a little bit better. Volunteering is a fantastic way to give back to the community, meet locals, and live out our values. Last week, three members of the Esperance Horizon Power team had the wonderful opportunity to volunteer at Harmonee House - Boico. They transformed an underutilised storage room into a vibrant craft room for the residents. About Harmonee House: Harmonee House is a self-funded and self-maintained NDIS program that prioritises social inclusion for individuals with disabilities. Open three days a week, it offers activities such as healthy cooking, art therapy, games/movies day, and individualised activities to improve well-being, build life skills, and foster a supportive community. Supporting (great) community organisations: Give Write WA ! We recently had an incredible volunteering session at Give Write - an organisation dedicated to providing school supplies to children in need across Western Australia. Give Write collects donations of new and lightly used stationery and repackages them. These are delivered to disadvantaged students - so they have the tools to succeed in their education. This was our first volunteering event open to HP employees’ and their families, and it was a huge success! We had 24 enthusiastic volunteers (9 adults and 15 children) and a long waitlist. There was lots of fun sorting stationery, testing pens and preparing packs for schools. After the session, several families enjoyed a picnic lunch at a nearby park, right next to Bille Bob the Subiaco Giant. A big thank you to everyone who participated and made this event memorable.
