Some of our customer experience team got involved in the recent sold-out event UXCamp Naarm | Melbourne - Australia's only community-based ‘unconference’ event for UX and design professionals and enthusiasts. Officeworks' CX Design Lead, Joshua Holmes , is one of the Melbourne cofounders and the Program Director. He said “The event was equal parts fun, tiring, energising and stressful! We had such a wonderful bunch of pitchers, speakers and attendees. Well done to everyone who stood up and gave it a go. Last week we opened the doors to our shiny new store in Belrose, New South Wales - our 171st store! 🌟 Employing 40 new team members from the local community, including Store Business Manager, Andrew Mattes , the store is home to more than 20,000 products and features a new layout and modern fixtures and fittings, creating an exceptional customer experience. As part of the opening celebrations, the store made donations to Belrose Public School and Belrose Kindergarten to help them continue their fantastic work in education in the local the community. We’d like to acknowledge Andrew and the Belrose team for their hard work in the lead-up to the opening, along with Petros Stathis, Tynan Putt , Melissa Reeves , and others from across our business that came together and contributed to the opening. Officeworks Belrose store is located at Shop L2.10, HomeCo, 4-6 Niangala Close, Belrose NSW 2086, and is open from 7am to 9pm Monday to Friday, 8am to 6pm on Saturdays, and 9am to 6pm on Sundays. #Officeworks 💙

Yesterday we launched our FY24 People & Planet Positive report – the culmination of hard work and collaboration of our incredible customers, team members and partners to help make a positive difference to people and the planet. Some of the highlights include: 🏥 We achieved our safest year ever as a team 🙌 Together with our customers, we raised $5.3m for communities across Australia ✍ We supported more than 17,000 students in need, alongside our partners The Australian Literacy & Numeracy Foundation and The Smith Family 🌳 We reached 1.5 million plants in the ground as part of our Restoring Australia program, in partnership with Greening Australia since 2017 ♻️ We ensured that more than 80% of our paper and wood products are FSC certified or recycled 💡 We reached our Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions targets – two years ahead of schedule Officeworks CFO, Brendan Hargreaves , said: “We're proud of our achievements and progress in FY24 and acknowledge we still have more work to do. We love a story like Andre’s! While he is currently a casual team member at our Canning Vale store in WA, not too long ago he was a customer and work experience student. Tasked to find a placement while completing secondary school, Andre Claudius-Rivas chose Officeworks based on his love for technology and helping customers. Officeworks Canning Vale Coordinator, Stacey Dwyer, said “Andre was such a delight to have instore. He had amazing work ethic, a can-do attitude, was well-mannered and had excellent customer service skills. Of course we offered him a role!” And it turns out customers love him, with Andre receiving two pins for outstanding customer service in his first week of employment. Yesterday we welcomed the Federal Assistant Climate Change Minister, Josh Wilson, Acting Director of NABERS , James Elks , and other key stakeholders to our Alexandria store in NSW. They came together to launch 'NABERS for Retail' - a voluntary rating tool designed to measure the energy efficiency of central services like lighting, heating, and air conditioning in retail stores. This innovative tool will help retailers across the country assess their energy performance, identify cost-saving opportunities, and take steps toward improving energy efficiency—supporting the collective goal of a net zero carbon-built environment. Our Head of Sustainability, Product Safety and Corporate Affairs, Fiona Lawrie, said, "We talked about how our stores are helping make bigger things happen for the planet by transitioning to renewable energy, using more efficient lighting and improving building energy management systems." We look forward to seeing the positive impact this initiative will have across the retail sector. While we're typically seen as the go-to for tech or office supplies, we recently added a new craft range that's got people hooked – Yarn 🧶 Launched in select stores and online, we’re not sure if we have the DIY crochet fashion trend or a resurgence in knitting to thank for its early popularity. The new range includes yarn, knitting needles and crochet hooks. And while the yarn comes in 22 colours, green, midnight blue and mustard have been the favourite colours so far. Self-proclaimed “knitting addict” Brendan Girak from 'Knitwits and Yarns' jumped on board to create content to inspire others to get knitting: https://lnkd.in/gNNtW-q9 Yarn adds to our already significant art and craft supplies offer, cementing us as a destination for all creatives or hobbyists of all ages.
