Our annual “Hack Day” is one of the biggest and best events in the PEXA calendar, where employees from across the PEXA Group (and the globe!) are invited to contribute their big ideas for innovating our products, processes or people initiatives. We had a jam-packed line-up with 18 teams competing from Australia, India and the Philippines. On Thursday, we had the pleasure of hosting some Diwali celebrations in PEXA HQ. Diwali is the south Asian celebration that celebrates light over darkness, good over evil and knowledge over ignorance – a fitting tie-in to our Hack Day activities also happening this week. We saw staff dressing up in their best and brightest outfits, a delicious Indian food feast for lunch, sweets for afternoon tea and a henna tattooing station. Wednesday lunches at PEXA’s Melbourne HQ just got a serious flavour upgrade! In a new initiative started this month, we’ve been delighted to serve up some delicious Indigenous cuisine from a few fantastic First Nations businesses. So far, we’ve enjoyed trying Mabu Mabu ’s eucalyptus smoked chicken sliders, Pawa Catering ’s native cous cous and kangaroo pies and Jarrah Integrated Services ’s slow-cooked bush spiced lamb. The latest PEXA Property & Mortgage Insights reports show solid growth in Australia's property market in the Sep-24 quarter, with an 11% increase in residential and commercial property settlements compared to Sep-23. Key highlights: ✅ 183,288 total settlements worth $178.3B ✅ QLD led in residential volumes, Brisbane now 2nd most expensive capital city ✅ 16.2% uplift in new home loans, led by QLD & SA ✅ Regional WA volumes surged 19.5% Our Chief Economist Julie T. says demand for new housing continues to outpace supply in most locations across Australia. This Anti-Poverty Week, we're shining a light on the meaningful impact of Homes for Homes , providing secure social and affordable housing thanks to their innovative donation model. For ex-prisoners like Mandy*, access to stable housing can help empower successful reintegration into society, reduced reoffending rates, and break the cycle of homelessness that affects almost half of prisoners on release.
