The weekend State Election result is the best possible outcome for the Queensland mining industry, QCoal and the Byerwen mine in particular. We want to congratulate David Crisafulli and his entire LNP - Liberal National Party team on their victory. The comprehensive win by the LNP means a return in Queensland to a State Government which actually values coal mining and understands the importance of the tens of thousands of people across the State who rely on the mining industry. We are particularly proud of the role QCoal played in directly impacting the State Election through our Tell Them Where To Go campaign which we launched in April across regional Queensland - https://lnkd.in/gfN-7qTm In every seat our campaign was focused, except one, the Labor Party lost. The campaign by QCoal and its partners in Energy Resources Queensland, including Macmahon , JFE and MPK, focused on regional Queensland seats where mine workers and their families lived. We want to call out and thank our agency Wahoo Advertising , and the many workers who made the campaign possible. We believe we reminded Queenslanders that mining is about the people, and that it supports so much of what we value here in this great State. The campaign was born after the previous State Labor Government introduced secret legislation attached to a Child Protection Bill to force Byerwen to close its mining camp and move its 800 strong workforce to Glenden, 40 minutes by bus from the mine. The decision was purely political and showed a contempt for the coal industry, mining and the tens of thousands of Queenslanders who rely on the coal industry for their livelihoods.
