We&#39;ve now supported the re-homing of over 67,700 rescue dogs and donated over $8.8M to 289 volunteer rescue groups across Australia.

Over the last 10 days we have had 3 major retail partner conferences in 3 different states with a small team of 12 all coming together to pull off a seamless experience across all events. The PETstock Conference was an incredible opportunity to encourage PETstock's young, diverse and enthusiastic teams to share our mission, story, and the impact our donations have made as a result of our product range available their stores. It was all hands and paws on deck at the 2024 Petbarn & Greencross Conference! Our team was able to speak directly to all store managers and attendees to share our mission, story and the impact our donations have made based on our product range available in store. The star of the show who had everyone talking (and crying) was Honey; she gave birth in a rural pound and was saved and supported by two of our amazing rescue partners, Rural Outback Animal Rescue and Off The Chain K9 Rescue. The team at Off The Chain K9 Rescue we're able to tell Honey's story during our Learning Centre and explain how our donations make a huge difference in their work to save more lives. To ensure that they could continue to help hundreds of beagles, hounds and other vulnerable dogs every year Beagle Rescue Victoria Inc. had to update their facilities to meet their local council’s new requirements. Beagle Rescue Victoria and Beagle Freedom Australia have built relationships with research laboratories to take hundreds of dogs who would have otherwise been euthanised at the end of their laboratory use. Without their important kennel space the number of dogs they would able to help in the future would have been limited and the dogs would have to go directly into foster homes without a sound knowledge of how they would behave and react in certain situations. Having a safe space to house the dogs when they first come into care ensures the safety of the rescued dogs and the new families that open their homes to them. It gives dogs who have had limited exposure to the world a chance to decompress and learn how to trust humans and realise how exciting life can be! Beagle Rescue applied for Buddy's Grant last year and we were proud to award them with $50,000 to upgrade their kennels, helping them give these beautiful, deserving dogs a brighter future. So far we have been able to donate over $8 Million to over 284 rescue partners across the country but it's still not enough. Australia is in the grips of an animal welfare crisis and it's not showing any signs of slowing down. Our rescue partners go to extraordinary lengths to help these dogs find a positive outcome and right now they need more support than ever. While our main driver is to donate funds to save lives with our rescue partners another major focus is to advocate for adoption. Our Adopt-A-Dog platform has over 2600 dogs looking for a place to call home and all of them have a story to tell. Unfortunately, while the start of Riva's story is very sad, it isn't uncommon. Thankfully her past is now behind her, and she can finally be a dog with a family that loves her. Shontae and her family found Riva on our Adopt-A-Dog platform where she was listed for adoption by one of our fantastic rescue partners Dog Rescue Newcastle. We're very proud to have played a small part in bringing this family together and are grateful that they reached out to share their story with us! Our rescue partners at Friends of Kempsey Pound Inc have held another successful and significant community support event for local pet owners in need. Their main focus was concentrating on preventing parvovirus in the region and keeping their pets healthy at home and out of the pound. In one day, they were able to support 195 pet parents with 140 PARVAC Vaccinations, 32 Microchips, 422 flea and tick doses along with providing much needed food packages to the local community We were able to donate $4500 to cover all the PARVAC vaccinations for this event and the next one the following weekend. Due to the current cost of living these events are critical to help prevent expensive vet treatments, reluctant surrenders, and give the pet parent's confidence knowing their best mate is healthy and protected. We are very proud to announce that we were recently awarded Retail Supplier of the Year at the Inside Retail Retailer Awards 2024, Australia’s biggest, national retail award night. The award was recognition of our collaboration with Petbarn in creating Rescue Month, where each February, SavourLife partners with the Petbarn Foundation to encourage Australians who are thinking of getting a pet, to adopt and give an animal in need their forever home. The initiative focuses on saving pups from pounds by providing additional funding to enable our rescue partners to bring puppies and dogs, many from high-risk regional and rural pounds, safely into their care until they are ready to be adopted. Funds that we donate together with the Petbarn Foundation, go towards the cost of transport, vet work, desexing, training, and food; all the work that’s required to get the pups ready for their new home. We’ve just completed Rescue Month 2024 which saw 30 rescue organisations come together to take part in over 80 in-store adoption events, actively driving adoptions of dogs rescued during the month and educating customers about rescue animals. In the last three Rescue Months, SavourLife and the Petbarn Foundation have donated $700,000, helping save 1,149 pups from pounds. These are puppies and dogs that are at a real risk of euthanasia if a rescue organisation is not able to put their hand up and bring them into care. In many cases the barrier is financial, so knowing that that they have funding ready to cover most eventualities makes all the difference. We are still a small, family-owned and operated business. Seeing our brand recognised alongside such huge names is an incredible achievement, one that our whole team is extremely proud of. The award is also fantastic recognition that our mission and impact in the rescue space is valued by the larger retail community. We have some very exciting plans for the coming year and look forward to continuing to collaborate with like-minded partners to work towards achieving our mission of reducing the number of adoptable dogs euthanised in Australia to Zero.
