Williams Metal Fabrications has been contracted by McMahon Services Australia (MSA) to provide the berthing and mooring structural components for the Department for Infrastructure and Transport’s port upgrades at Cape Jervis and Penneshaw. This project involves supplying, fabricating, and applying protective coatings to approximately 250 tonnes of structural steel, with the largest headstock spanning over 10 meters. The infrastructure called the headstocks, shown in pink below, are where the fender panels will be installed - these are essentially parking structures for the new ferry. The catwalk tubes, shown in green below, are where the walkways will be installed. The work is part of several significant infrastructure upgrades and planning initiatives in Cape Jervis and Penneshaw, undertaken by the Department for Infrastructure and Transport (DIT). Kangaroo Island and the Fleurieu Peninsula are key destinations for visitors and tourism, and they play a crucial role in transporting South Australian goods, such as dairy, livestock, and wine. We are proud to contribute to this important upgrade of the Cape Jervis and Kangaroo Island Ports.

Williams Metal Fabrications is proud to have contributed to the successful delivery of temporary infrastructure at Penneshaw, ensuring uninterrupted access for cruise ship passengers. Our team supplied and fabricated essential components, including handrails, the steel jetty, and a gangway, to provide safe passage for travelers boarding and disembarking the vessel. We are also involved in the ongoing delivery of permanent steel works for the Kangaroo Island upgrade project, currently fabricating critical infrastructure that will be utilized in both Penneshaw and Cape Jervis.

Williams Metal Fabrications was thrilled to support Fauna Rescue of SA’s Echidna Coordinator, Ella, who approached us with an urgent need for specialized enclosures for some very special patients—injured and sick echidnas! 🦔 Echidnas are incredible escape artists, so they need a very secure and durable enclosure. With 2 steel garden beds donated to us, our team set out to create two escape-proof echidna corrals that are safe, easy to clean, and easy to move. The steel design allows for a range of bedding options, depending on the echidnas’ needs. We’re proud to have donated our time and materials for this project. A special shout-out to Peter Williams and our talented apprentice boilermaker Bree, who were delighted to hand over the finished corrals to Ella and one of her echidna friends.
