The Australian Renewable Energy Agency (ARENA) is a government body that plays a key role in accelerating the shift to affordable and reliable renewable energy. ARENA supports the research, development, and deployment of renewable energy and energy efficiency technologies and initiatives.

ARENA is the Australian Renewable Energy Agency.

Our purpose is to support the global transition to net zero emissions. We do so by accelerating the pace of pre-commercial innovation. This is to the benefit of Australian consumers, businesses and workers.

$1.66 million announced for the Aboriginal Clean Energy Partnership (ACEP).

Australian Renewable Energy Agency (ARENA) is providing funding to support a phase 1 feasibility study for the East Kimberley Clean Energy and Hydrogen Project.

The project aims to scale up renewable hydrogen production in Western Australia while leading the way in First Nations partnership in renewable energy developments. It will involve Traditional Owners as shareholders and not just stakeholders in the development phase of clean energy projects.

The formation of ACEP is a joint venture between native title representative holders: 
 • Yawoorroong Miriuwung Gajerrong Yirrgeb Noong Dawang Corporation (MG Corporation)
 • Balanggarra Ventures Ltd (Balanggarra Aboriginal Corporation RNTBC)
 • Kimberley Land Council Aboriginal Corporation (KLC)
 • and nature investment and advisory firm Pollination.

An exciting step for Decarbonising Transport was marked yesterday when Team Global Express showcased the arrival of more than 40 brand-new electric trucks at its depot in Bungarribee in its Depot of the Future Vehicle Electrification Project.
 
In Australia’s largest vehicle electrification project, the ARENA-funded trial will roll out a total of 60 trucks with associated onsite electric charging and battery storage.
 
This will replace a third of the depot’s current fleet with zero emissions vehicles and provide valuable insights for the logistics sector on transitioning to zero emissions vehicles. 
 
Decarbonising transport is a key priority for the Australian Renewable Energy Agency (ARENA). We've announced investments of more than $136 million to zero emissions transport. This includes public charging, vehicle to grid trials, innovation in charging and fleet decarbonisation.
 
This project milestone for Team Global Express is an exciting step towards net zero that ARENA is proud to be a part of.

$9.4 million in funding announced for a new project to electrify rail freight transport of commodities.

The grant supports Aurizon's $18.8 million ‘Battery Powered Tender for Heavy Haul Fleet Decarbonisation’ project. This is a world-first proof of concept rail tender.

The project will develop, test and trial a battery electric tender. This will power a diesel-electric locomotive in a hybrid diesel and battery configuration.

The project works to cut emissions from Australia’s resources industry.
