ASENA is the national body for Australia's State and Territory social enterprise peaks. Its role is to create a space for leaders of social enterprise networks to collaborate, give credibility to local peaks, provide a voice for practitioners, and support engagement with national intermediaries.

ASENA exists to
-Create a space for leaders of State and Territory networks to collaborate so that they can amplify their impact, and reduce duplication and inefficiencies
-Give credibility to the local State and Territory based networks
-Provide a voice for practitioners in the social enterprise sector
-Support engagement with national intermediaries and reduce fragmentation and duplication at the national level
-Elevate the national social enterprise community by focussing on support for emerging jurisdictions
-Understand and communicate the needs of social enterprises from across the nation, and work with Social Enterprise Australia to advocate for national awareness and support of social enterprise

ASENA is the alliance of the seven social enterprise networks representing each state and territory of Australia including:
-Social Enterprise Network Victoria (SENVIC)
-Social Enterprise Council of NSW and ACT (SECNA)
-Queensland Social Enterprise Council (QSEC)
-South Australian Social Enterprise Council (SASEC)
-Western Australia Social Enterprise Council (WASEC)
-Social Enterprise Network of Northern Territory (Impact North)
-Social Enterprise Network of Tasmania

Today the WASEC team, Ross Wortham and Olivia Chapman , celebrated receiving a two-year grant from Lotterywest, alongside board member Dr Vanessa Rauland , Klara Andric MLC and Sven Stenvers Impact Seed Founder and Director. Thanks to Lotterywest and the Government of Western Australia , we’re able to continue our commitment to building a thriving community of social enterprise in WA. Our members use commercial activities to address social issues, support communities, provide jobs and training, and tackle climate change. This grant empowers us to expand businesses in WA that prioritise both people and planet, creating a brighter, more sustainable future for all. Great changes in store for the social enterprise sector in the Federal Government recommendations on rebuilding employment services released today. Key takeaways in terms of social enterprise recommendations for Federal govt policy changes include: -Development of a national social enterprise strategy -Creation of a national social procurement framework to leverage federal spending on major projects towards social enterprises including weighted evaluation criterion in tenders -Increasing direct investment in social enterprises creating job pathways -Establishment of a network of regional hubs and service gateways to support administration of government support for social enterprise The recommendations in this report extensively reference state-based policy best-practice and outcomes, notably from Victoria and NSW.
