It seems like #mRNA vaccines have finally cracked the challenging Flu B strains, paving the way for widespread adoption. While earlier mRNA flu vaccines were highly effective against A strains their efficacy against B strains fell short. Now reconfigured vaccines from first Moderna and now GSK (partnered with CureVac ) have demonstrated non-inferiority to conventional flu vaccines. Given the scalability and rapid manufacture enabling rapid adaptation to seasonal strains, it's not hard to envision mRNA capturing a large section of Flu market in the near future. https://lnkd.in/gpt4ayMC

We are excited to share our latest research in bioRxiv, introducing a novel method for targeted mRNA delivery. Bettina D. , Timothy Mercer and Seth Cheetham from BASE's Research Team used bispecific antibodies (BsAbs) to link mRNA-LNPs to specific cell surface markers in collaboration with James Humphries , Christopher Howard and Kristofer Thurecht . This technology has the potential to enable more precise and effective mRNA therapies. Key advantages: 💡 Innovative Delivery: BsAbs were used to target cell-surface proteins, retaining the original properties of the LNPs for better delivery. 💡 Targeted Action: Demonstrated effective, cell-type-specific targeting of EGFR and PSMA positive cells both in vitro and in vivo. 💡 Flexibility: This approach allows for easy adaptation by changing the cell-targeting region of the BsAbs, enabling rapid development of next-generation targeted mRNA drugs.
