Research by Diversity Council Australia Ltd shows that inclusive organisations are not only more satisfied and mentally well but are also more innovative and committed, producing better ideas and stronger outcomes. Tori Cannon , Project Development Manager at Aula Energy , highlights the critical importance of diverse voices in leadership to drive meaningful change within the renewable energy industry. “I’m thrilled to be included in the Chloe Munro Leading Edge Program. I know this opportunity will foster valuable skills that will help each of us to enhance our advocacy and impact within the renewable energy industry. Renewable energy projects are a real opportunity for the regions. This week, we published the 'Billions in the bush: Renewable energy for regional prosperity' report with Farmers for Climate Action , which estimates that large-scale renewable energy projects will deliver $1 billion to farmers and $200 million to regional communities by 2030. The report shows farmers can earn $38,500 to $45,500 per year from hosting a typical 7MW turbine and up to $1,250 per hectare from solar. For comparison, a beef farmer can expect returns of $1,500 per hectare per year in a good year. View the full report here https://lnkd.in/gR3FqHug

The surge in renewable energy investment since 2015 has seen CO2 emissions reduced by 30 per cent relative to if Australia had remained reliant on the 2015 fleet of power stations, a new report has found. Launched at COP29 in Baku overnight, the 'Emissions reductions delivered by renewable energy (2015–2025)' report, published by the Clean Energy Council together with Green Energy Markets , shows that by the end of 2025, emissions will be 40 per cent lower thanks to the installation of renewable energy projects and solar systems since 2015. This will result in a saving of 340 million tonnes over the decade from 2015 to 2025. Clean Energy Council Chief Executive, Kane Thornton , said the renewables sector was not only keeping the lights on as coal plants reach the end of their technical life, but is creating wide-ranging benefits for Australians from income for farmers hosting renewable energy projects to lower power prices. "With every solar panel and wind turbine installed, the renewables industry is making a difference to the life of Australians," he said. The report shows that the reduction in emissions delivered by the growth of renewable energy since 2015 is equivalent to reducing the emissions from all Australia’s cars, light commercial vehicles and aeroplanes to zero. Renewable energy now provides more than 40 per cent of Australia’s electricity, a figure that has doubled in the last five years. Farmers like Luke from southern NSW and Susan from northern Victoria are finding that renewables can help generate a double income from their land. Additional payments from nearby renewable energy projects are providing a guaranteed income that works alongside their farming activities and isn’t connected to fluctuating commodity prices or the impacts of extreme weather. As Australia works towards attracting and training a workforce sufficient to build, operate and support the clean energy transition, it is important that the industry builds that workforce around a diverse range of talent, that it makes the sector as inclusive as possible, and that leaders continue to demonstrate the behaviours and norms that keep the industry healthy. This week is Inclusion at Work Week, an annual celebration of diversity and inclusion in Australian workplaces. According to research by Diversity Council Australia Ltd , workers in inclusive teams are: 8 times more likely be very satisfied than workers in non-inclusive teams 6 times more likely to feel work positively impacts their mental health 3 times less likely to leave their organisation 2 times more likely to have been given feedback they found useful. Diverse and inclusive teams produce better work, come up with better ideas, and have more fun doing it. Today in Canberra, we launched the 'Billions in the bush: Renewable energy for regional prosperity' report with Farmers for Climate Action , which estimates that large-scale renewable energy projects will deliver $1 billion to farmers and $200 million to regional communities by 2030. • Farmers to receive $0.9 to $1.1 billion in landholder payments for hosting clean energy by 2030 • A further $200 million will go to regional communities through Community Benefits Funds, neighbourhood benefit sharing schemes and local household electricity bill contributions • Clean energy makes farmland more productive by creating a double income from the land Speaking at Parliament House, our Chief Executive, Kane Thornton , said, in addition to offering farmers a guaranteed income that isn’t connected to fluctuating commodity prices or the impacts of extreme weather, renewables are breathing new life into communities. “The clean energy transition is not only keeping the lights on as coal plants reach the end of their technical life; they’re creating jobs and alternative income streams right across communities." Renewable Projects Quarterly report highlight: Onshore wind projects Onshore wind projects experienced a notable comeback in the last quarter, with 1,758 MW of financially committed projects in 2024, according to the Clean Energy Council's latest Renewable Projects Quarterly report. More than 40 per cent of Australia’s electricity supply now comes from renewable energy, including onshore wind, with the clean energy share expected to climb to almost 50 per cent by the end of next year, based on the projects under construction today.
