The Albanese Government has announced that it will introduce legislation for Fee-Free TAFE, providing 100,000 places annually from 2027. This builds on the success of 180,000 places in 2023 and a projected 300,000 over the next three years. Help make Safe AI easy We know AI holds great promise for small and medium enterprises (SMEs). But we also know business owners are wary of AI risks and lack the confidence and knowledge to manage them. Enter SAAM – a set of simple online tools and practical resources to help Australian SMEs access the benefits of AI while minimising exposure to risks. SAAM is one of four AI Adopt centres funded by the Commonwealth Government Department of Industry, Science and Resources. As part of the SAAM project, the University of Technology Sydney is doing a short survey to better understand how SMEs are adopting AI, and the challenges they face. The Albanese and Minns Labor Governments are jointly investing over $60 million to establish the Hunter Net Zero Manufacturing Centre of Excellence at TAFE NSW’s Tighes Hill campus in Newcastle. This investment follows the earlier commitment of $53.9 million for the Western Sydney Advanced Manufacturing Centre, marking the second of three TAFE NSW Manufacturing Centres of Excellence. These centres will help build a skilled workforce for key industries such as advanced manufacturing and clean energy and we look forward supporting them in our capacity as the Jobs and Skills Council for manufacturing .
