Newkind Social Change Conference is a festival-style 𝘀𝗼𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗲 𝗲𝗺𝗽𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗿𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗳𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 curated to bring together like minds, inspire positive social action and build a community of connected changemakers. Since 2017, Newkind Conference has been pioneering conversations on social justice and systems thinking approaches to social change and has built a reputation over the years as a no holds barred platform for honest discourse on positive social impact. This year, the conference will be held from 𝗦𝗮𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗱𝗮𝘆 𝟮𝗻𝗱 𝘁𝗼 𝗧𝘂𝗲𝘀𝗱𝗮𝘆 𝟱𝘁𝗵 𝗼𝗳 𝗡𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗺𝗯𝗲𝗿 on Dja Dja Wurrung Country, in Redbank, Victoria, and will include discussion panels and keynotes on critical discourses, as well as workshops, skill building sessions, and a multicultural program of arts and entertainment. On Wednesday, we proudly hosted a Social Enterprise Summit: Building Viability in Your Social Enterprise. The event exceeded expectations, with a remarkable turnout that truly underscored the vitality and commitment within the social enterprise sector. 🚀 This successful summit was made possible through the support of our partners: Hume City Council , City of Whittlesea , Banyule City Council , Merri-bek City Council and Bendigo Community Bank East Ivanhoe. The day was a testament to the power of collaboration, featuring dynamic learning sessions, meaningful networking opportunities, and insightful discussions among over 50 social enterprises and various councils. HIGHLIGHTS OF THE DAY Opening Remarks - SENVIC CEO, Ishani Chattopadhyay , alongside Nan Caple from Community Bank National Council and Georgie Meyer from City of Banyule, set the tone for an inspiring day. Building Blocks for Impact Capital - Libby Ward-Christie from Social Purpose Centre delivered a compelling workshop on Building Blocks for Impact Capital, covering essential tools for funding, revenue models, social enterprise strategies, and value propositions. Panel Discussion on Sustainable Procurement - Moderated by Tenille Gilbert ( For Change Co. ) and Peter Collins ( Cleanable , LoveLuvo ), this session offered a transparent dialogue on sustainable procurement and the dynamics of business interactions with councils. Panel Discussion on Capital Sources - Facilitated by Ishani Chattopadhyay , with contributions from Michelle Di Fabio ( Philanthropy Australia ), Joanna Lee ( Giant Leap ), Emily Cormack ( Equity Trustees ), and Sophia Lee-Steere ( Bendigo and Adelaide Bank ), this panel explored alternative capital sources and strategies for accessing them.
