Have you already heard about urban mining? 🌍 This sustainable approach means recovering building materials from existing buildings and infrastructure, reducing the need to source new materials from the earth. At Befimmo, we truly believe in this innovative solution! Our ZIN project stands as one of Europe’s largest urban mining initiatives, leading the way in sustainable construction: - Over 1,000 tons of materials have been reused, and 30,000 tons upcycled - 95% of the original towers’ mass has been repurposed or recycled, leaving only 5% as non-recovered waste. On October 23, we welcomed 15 international journalists who got an inside look at the potential of urban mining through a presentation by our Environmental Officer, Geoffroy Knipping . From September 3 to October 3, Befimmo employees participated in the traditional September Challenge, "Move Your Body", four weeks of activities to (re)get moving and feel great! 💪 Once again, this year, we organized a wide range of fun activities suitable for both great athletes and less athletic colleagues. There were also plenty of wellness activities available💆♀️ As usual, we took advantage of the challenge to raise money for charity. This year, the goal was to raise €5,000 for the non-profit organization Accolage , which implements solutions to combat loneliness and social isolation among elderly or vulnerable people🤝 The results: - A total of 57 staff members gave their all for a good cause🎉 - The €5,000 target was reached well ahead of schedule.
