In the heart of the vibrant solar industry, two visionaries, Etienne Saint-Sernin and Daniel Dreher, embarked on a journey that would redefine sustainable transportation. Meet the brilliant minds behind Zembo, where engineering meets passion, and innovation transforms lives.

Etienne and Daniel, both passionate engineers shared a dream – to revolutionize mobility in Uganda. Their minds sparked with a crazy idea: an electric bike equipped with a swappable battery, capable of conquering the toughest terrains of Uganda.

Undeterred by the challenges that lay ahead, they accepted the mission, fueled by their determination to make a positive impact on the environment and the lives of their fellow Ugandans. The duo's relentless pursuit of excellence and their commitment to creating a sustainable solution set the stage for Zembo's extraordinary journey.

Fast forward to today, and Zembo has achieved a remarkable milestone - over 15 million kilometers driven by satisfied clients (that's 20 times to the moon and back!). This helped save 800 tons of carbon (total yearly emissions 6,000 Kampala inhabitants). The electric bikes have not only proven their mettle on the rugged Ugandan roads but have become a symbol of innovation, reliability, and eco-friendliness.

As Zembo gears up for a new launch, the excitement is palpable. The next chapter promises even more groundbreaking features and advancements. On #worldevday 2023 there is clear momentum building behind the transition towards #cleantransportation as part of global efforts to address the impacts of #climatechange and #airpollution. 

Ugandan electric motorcycle taxi company, Zembo, is growing its business with expertise and investment from The Private Infrastructure Development Group company InfraCo Africa, DOB Equity, mobility54 and #PIDG_TA. 

This film shows how an innovative start up is growing its fleet of electric motorcycle taxis and #solarpowered battery charging / swapping infrastructure whilst delivering #greenjobs and improving #healthandsafety practices.

Last Saturday was #worldevday2023 . With an average of 1 ton saved yearly per motorcycle on the road, Zembo aims to transform the transport sector.

At Zembo, we strive for women empowerment. The boda sector is a growing opportunity providing jobs for many: why not give women this opportunity too? Thanks to the Women on Wheels program designed by Women rising for Africa (Liliana Felix), Zembo now counts 25 female drivers in its fleet. 
Here is Mary's story, the first women on an electric motorcycle in Kampala.

Zembo is generating new green employment opportunities in #Uganda. During #acs23 and in the lead up to #worldevday, follow the journey of Nabirye Mary Marjo, one of the company's growing team of female electric boda boda riders as she transports her taxi passengers around #Kampala.
