We are welcoming you at 11th International Conference on Isotopes (11ICI) on July 23-27, 2023 | The purpose of the Sylvia Fedoruk Canadian Centre for Nuclear Innovation (the Fedoruk Centre) is to place Saskatchewan among global leaders in nuclear research, development and training through investment in partnerships with academia and industry for maximum societal and economic benefit.

The Fedoruk Centre supports research and education in nuclear medicine, social and environmental sciences related to nuclear technology development, nuclear energy and safety including small reactors, and materials research using nuclear techniques.

The Fedoruk Centre also operates the Saskatchewan Centre for Cyclotron Sciences as a research and educational tool for nuclear medicine, molecular imaging, and the supply of medical radioisotopes and radiopharmaceuticals.

It was a pleasure for Fedoruk Centre Executive Director, John Root, to attend the Westinghouse Electric Company Supplier Symposium in Saskatoon last night. The event offered a fantastic opportunity to reconnect with familiar faces in the growing Saskatchewan nuclear community, while also making new industry contacts. We were especially excited to hear updates about Westinghouse’s eVinci micro modular reactor, their other products and their interests to engage with partners from industry, government and academia. It’s an exciting time for the #nuclear sector, and it’s inspiring to see opportunities for Saskatchewan to be placed among global leaders of nuclear research, development and training.

Recently, the Fedoruk Centre has raised Saskatchewan's nuclear innovation profile globally with three major announcements, including an agreement with Canadian Nuclear Laboratories to increase global supply of Actinium-225, a rare medical isotope and groundbreaking weapon in the fight against cancer, and funding from Prairies Economic Development Canada I Développement économique Canada pour les Prairies that allows it to develop a new capacity to produce isotope Gallim-68 on demand for imaging specific cancers. These new opportunities will help Fedoruk Centre further invest in nuclear innovation in Saskatchewan, including its future in cleaner energy, and help alleviate human anxiety and suffering globally.
