H55 is a Swiss company that specializes in the development of electric propulsion systems for aircraft, focusing on making aviation cleaner, quieter, and more affordable. They offer bespoke electric propulsion solutions and work on integrating electric propulsion technologies into existing and new aircraft.

Electric propulsion is allowing the development of new urban air transport solutions such as Flying Taxis or VTOLs. More than hundred projects around the world are aiming to provide aircrafts which are able to take off and land vertically, transporting 4-8 passengers across cities.

These new air mobility solutions will be potentially clean and quiet and can be realized with existing technologies. The biggest challenge is not building and flying a prototype, rather certification. The gap between a first and a certified aircraft is considerable and that’s where H55 brings its expertise, experience and solutions.

H55 is proud to be partnering with forward-looking companies such as Pratt & Whitney Canada who are showing a real commitment to sustainable aviation. As part of a project where H55 is providing it battery solutions for an hybrid-electric flight demonstrator project, P&WC announced the development of an advanced mobile charging unit (MCU) in collaboration with the National Research Council of Canada (NRC) and the Innovative Vehicle Institute (IVI). The MCU is an important development for this project and H55 extends its congratulations to the contributing teams. A great momentum which is moving the project further and an excellent example of the value of private public partnerships.

Jadis, cette immense halle de l’aéroport militaire de Sion faisait office d’atelier de réparation pour les F/A-18. Aujourd’hui, elle est un #laboratoire dans lequel la start-up H55 teste et intègre ses systèmes de #propulsion électrique aux avions de demain. Avec, en tête de liste, le Bristell Energic, un biplace conçu par la société tchèque BRM Aero, sur lequel les équipes de H55 travaillent depuis cinq ans. 🛩️

Le moteur électrique et les packs de batteries que nous avons développés permettent une #autonomie de nonante minutes et seront certifiés courant 2024. Today the European Parliament has been introduced to #clean #aviation, a growing and dynamic industry which has considerable economic and societal #benefits. 

H55 wholeheartedly welcomes supporting the TRAN committee in providing our insights into the #challenges and #opportunities associated with bringing to the market clean aviation solutions. 

The technological and economic paradigms of #airtransportation are changing, and clean air transportation will undoubtedly become an important driver for economic growth and job creation. 

Europe has a #competitiveadvantage in aviation, and industry and governments need to continue to work together to leverage these new opportunities to ensure that Europe’s aviation leadership position remains solid.

H55 is proud to announce the Bristell by BRM AERO B23 Energic powered by H55 #EPS (Electric Propulsion System) has flown for 1 hour and 13 minutes and landed with enough reserve for an additional go-around and airport circuit.

H55 has managed the flight plan to test how far its system was able to fly and it is with great joy and pride the #technology has exceeded the H55 target of achieving at least 1 hour flight.

This is a great milestone in the development of #electric #aviation!

Two decades later, the SOLAR IMPULSE #pioneering spirit continues. Bertrand with the Solar Impulse Foundation has identified and is promoting over 1500 economically profitable technologies that can increase energy efficiency and reduce carbon emissions. H55, that I have co-founded, is the leading enabler of #electricpropulsion solutions which are changing the paradigms of #aviation  making air transport clean and efficient.
 
Tonight the SOLAR IMPULSE team came together to not only #celebrate this important anniversary, but to ensure that the #legacy continues and to remind us that while #climatechange presents societal challenges, there are also many promising opportunities to make our planet cleaner while improving our living standards.

On November 28, 2003, André Borschberg together with Bertrand Piccard and engineers from EPFL (École polytechnique fédérale de Lausanne) announced the dream of achieving the first flight around the world with an electric airplane using only solar energy, without any fuel. At that time there were no sponsors, financing, just a team assessing the feasibility of the project. With a technological proof of concept and a steadfast vision in proving the potential of clean technologies and renewable energy, Bertrand and André set out to do what everyone said was impossible.

Great couple of days with our EASA - European Union Aviation Safety Agency partners working on the Certification Basis for our Compliance Checklist agreement of our Electrical Propulsion System destined for the Bristell by BRM AERO B23 Energic aircraft. 
It's really inspiring to have such positive discussions. Thanks to EASA for supporting the development of our Certification Basis and the aviation industry in its challenge to reach net zero CO2.
