What used to be a 25 km trip taking 45 minutes is now reduced to just 15 minutes by drone, bringing significant efficiency gains and cost savings for the clinic! ✨ Last night, RigiTech joined the Innovaud & DIAS - Drone Industry Association Switzerland event in Lausanne! Our co-founder, David Rovira , shared our vision for the future of drone logistics and how it’s reshaping delivery, especially in healthcare. Three countries, one control centre, drones flying beyond visual line of sight across Europe. From our point of view, to achieve economic sustainability in drone operations, scale is crucial. A recent two-week trial by the ANWB —partnering with us at the Touring Club Suisse ’s Mobility Academy and with ÖAMTC in Austria—has demonstrated that scaling up is possible. During the test flights, drone operators from ANWB Medical Drones remotely controlled three drones from The Hague. One drone operated in the Valkenburg area in the Netherlands, another flew over Austria and a third flew in Switzerland between the Hôpital intercantonal de la Broye (HIB) sites in Estavayer and Payerne. Flying drones beyond visual line of sight is challenging, especially from a regulatory perspective, but to have all the procedures in place and to be able to execute them reliably, day after day, to do the same in three countries shows that ANWB Medical Drones is ready to go. The use of drones as a mode of transport offers significant benefits to the healthcare sector. They can quickly and efficiently transport medical supplies such as blood, medicine and equipment, drastically reducing response times and smoothing out peaks in demand at hospitals and laboratories. Our joint efforts with sister clubs in Austria and the Netherlands, enabled by the Drone & Vertical Mobility Academy of the FIA – Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile , aim to generate insights into the potential of a unified European drone operation. By working with local healthcare partners and leveraging our networks in each country, we've demonstrated that international drone flights are possible. There are few sealed roads and tropical monsoon makes these impassable for months.
