🌟 Over 300 participants joined our 2-day online #QFTP conference on animal welfare in Ukraine! 🌿🇺🇦 We were thrilled to see such a fantastic turnout as we discussed key topics in animal welfare on October 2-3. Here's a quick recap of the event: 📅 Day 1: Focused on experiences from the EU. Stanislav Ralchev (European Commission), Lærke Edel Toft Holm and Anja Putzer (Denmark), and Andreja Bizjak (Slovenia) shared their insights into legislating, implementing, and enforcing animal welfare standards. 📅 Day 2: Dedicated to Ukraine’s progress. Vitalii Kryuchkov (Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food) and Oleksii Klymenok (State Service of Ukraine for Food Safety and Consumer Protection) updated us on recent regulatory developments and control systems. Vitaliy Bashinskyi discussed the obligations of food business operators, while Vika Lets (QFTP project) and Nataliia Hryshchenko (National University of Life and Environmental Sciences of Ukraine) explored animal welfare training and education programs. How can we improve #dairy health by making better use of data and insights? SAFOSO together with TAFS Forum recently had the opportunity to discuss this with a Chinese delegation including the China Animal Health and Food Safety Alliance 国家动物健康与食品安全创新联盟（CAFA） and several key players in Chinese dairy farming and processing. Chinese dairy production is developing rapidly, and improving dairy health is therefore important to strengthen #foodsafety , to reduce #antimicrobial usage, to improve #animalwelfare , to increase value chain efficiency and to reduce the ecological footprint in the country. We are looking forward to deepening the collaboration.

Congratulations to the fellows for successfully completing the intensive 3-week Induction Module on #RiskAssessment as part of the #EFSA #EUFORA Program! Wishing this year's dedicated cohort all the luck for the rest of their training and future journey!

Despite a long air raid alarm during the preceding night and the resulting lack of sleep, the Steering Committee Meeting of our QFTP program went ahead in person in Kyiv and online. Our partners and stakeholders from the public and private sectors approved our new work plan and expressed their high level of satisfaction with our support for the #dairy and #organic sectors. Since the beginning of the war, one third of #Ukraine ’s dairy farmers have received humanitarian support funded by #Switzerland to help them keep up safe food production. We are very happy that our program has made and will continue to make a contribution to this support.
