We’re super proud to support the Operation Flinders Foundation through our Pad It Forward program, a South Australian Foundation transforming the lives of young people through Outback intervention programs. We've provided 143 boxes of period products, ensuring young people have safe access to period care while building resilience and self-confidence. Operation Flinders is 1 of our 22 Pad It Forward partners receiving menstrual health support, and you can help us reach more. A young person recently visited one of our Pad It Forward partners and shared how relieved she was to be able to access free period products, as she couldn’t afford her own and was worried about where she would get them from. This is just one example of many who are struggling right now. With Share the Dignity reporting that 64% of menstruators in Australia find it difficult to afford period products, the need for support is critical. We are so thankful to see the eradication of period poverty on the agenda for the United Nations . Here in Australia, 64% of people who menstruate have struggled to afford period products. As a result, people miss out on school, work, social activities or even suffer from avoidable menstrual health complications from using alternative materials such as sponges or socks to manage their menstrual fluid. This is why the TABOO Foundation's priorities are solely focused on the eradication of period poverty in Australia. These priorities include: 1. Providing culturally safe, consistent and reliable access to period products for people experiencing period poverty. 2. Educating and enabling vulnerable communities to sustainably improve menstrual health and wellbeing outcomes. 3. Collaborating with volunteers and community partners. 4. Empowering people to understand period poverty as a significant social and health issue. 5. Encouraging multiple layers of leadership to take responsibility in providing period products to their constituents and persons (ie, governments, schools, hospitals, etc). We’ve got exciting news !!! Our amazing partners over at The Hospital Research Foundation Group have committed to continue supporting our Pad it Forward program with a $50,000 grant. For those who are new, our Pad it Forward program exists to increase safe and dignified access to period products for people experiencing period poverty in Australia. Period poverty is experienced when someone cannot access or afford appropriate period products, menstrual education, and sufficient sanitation and waste management facilities to manage their period. Our Pad it Forward program is addressing these barriers by partnering with community-based organizations around Australia and providing culturally safe period products and menstrual health education support to vulnerable communities. “Ensuring everyone has access to quality healthcare is a core priority for The Hospital Research Foundation Group,” said Group CEO Paul Flynn. We are incredibly grateful for The Hospital Research Foundation Group’s generous support. This grant will empower hundreds of people to better manage their menstrual health through improved access to period products and education.
