The number of electrical vehicles [EVs] on our roads has grown exponentially over the last few years, as many countries, eager to hit climate targets, have offered incentives in a bid to convert drivers from traditional fuels to EVs. Convenience, as we have come to learn, is king and many of the main issues people voice when looking to transition to a BEV (Battery Electric Vehicle) is convenience related. “When should I charge?", "Where can I charge?" "How much is it going to cost me to charge?” Enter - Extended-Range EVs or EREV for short. The possible solution to the problem. EREV's are a sort of halfway point between gas and battery powered cars. The car has an electric battery and drives like an electric vehicle with the gas engine working as a small generator to give extra mileage on the go. As these cars, popular in China, begin to make their way to the streets of Europe we will need more charging points to accommodate. Even without EREVs the demand for EV charging points is growing and with competition from both traditional fuel retailers and new emerging players, the market is primed for predictive pricing.
