Adaptavate is an award-winning company developing and commercialising the carbon negative building materials of the future. The company produces construction products that outperform conventional solutions, whilst being better for people and the planet. 

 

Our products include the Breathaplasta product family – a range of performance plasters made easy. The range includes: 

 

Breathaplasta UNIVERSAL - a quick setting, high performance, multi-purpose plaster designed for rapid build-up onto a wide range of backgrounds including plasterboard and wood wool board.  

 

Breathaplasta THERMAL - a quick setting, low density plaster designed for rapid build-up on the internal face of solid walls. Maximum thickness per coat is 40mm and multiple coats can be applied in a single day with approximately two hours setting time per coat. 

 

Breathaplasta SMOOTH - a fine finishing plaster designed to be a super smooth final surface finish that is quick and easy to apply onto plasterboard and to overcoat existing plaster surfaces. 

 

In addition, the company is building a pilot line for Breathaboard, a carbon negative alternative to the world’s third most used construction material; plasterboard.  

ADAPTAVATE 

We are thrilled to announce the closing of our latest investment round, reporting £2 million GBP in investment.

Our aim is to be a leader in helping decarbonise the construction industry by deploying our drop-in carbon negative building materials and carbon absorbing industrial processes across the world!

This investment round, led by Counteract, with participation from Low Carbon Innovation Fund 2 (LCIF2), SEMIN, Perivoli Innovations, and several industry experts’, will allow us to accelerate our ongoing work to achieve this.

This month, as part of the National Apprenticeship Week, our colleague Peter, Technical Installation Specialist, led a session at South Gloucestershire and Stroud College where he provided the students with insights about Adaptavate’s mission and construction products. 🌿🏗️

Here’s what Pete had to say about his experience: 

 "My visit to SGS was something of an eyeopener. Having heard and even expressed concerns about a lack of young people entering the workforce, my experience at SGS proved otherwise.  

The young individuals I interacted with at SGS were an absolute pleasure to present to. They were attentive and fully immersed in what I had to say about Adaptavate and our exciting range of high-performance lime-based plasters. 🌟 

The questions that followed my presentation were unexpected, but they were all the right ones—about drying time, coverage per bag, and the benefits compared to other applications. 💡 

The SGS apprenticeship programs are essential to young adults coming through the school system. Providing a stable learning environment and mentors to show the possibilities achievable through hard work and dedication is paramount to producing a skilled and capable workforce of the future. We must continue to support these initiatives through government funding and mentorship. 🤝 

With tutors like Neil Coles leading the way, I am full of hope about the future of the labour market and the positive impact that institutions like SGS can make. 👏"

🌟 Exciting news! 🌿 We're thrilled to be featured in the latest issue of the Premier Construction Magazine. 

Our low-impact, high-performance internal plaster, Breathaplasta Universal, was used in Sustainable Workspaces at County Hall. One of the main focuses of this sustainable renovation was material selection, with a conscious effort to avoid high-carbon options typically used in conventional construction and to use natural materials that are toxin free to create something that is good for the site’s occupants and for the planet.

According to the EU’s climate service Copernicus, global warming exceeded 1.5C across an entire year for the first time. This does not violate the 2015 Paris Agreement but serves as a shocking warning about the speed at which we are moving towards the agreed 1.5C limit.    

At the current rate of emissions, the Paris goal could be crossed within the next decade. However, scientists emphasise that urgent actions to cut carbon emissions can still slow warming.   

Adaptavate prioritises ecological regeneration on a global scale. We are leading the carbon change in construction by taking CO2 from the atmosphere and putting it into construction materials and processes that can be scaled industrially and internationally for the mainstream market. We are audacious and can play our part, but we want to work with other players in the construction and built environment. Together, we can decarbonise the construction industry, which is responsible for 40% of annual CO2 emissions, according to The Institution of Structural Engineers' "Design for Zero" report in 2021.
