Aesop was established in Melbourne in 1987. Our objective has always been to formulate skin, body and hair care products of the finest quality, as well as fragrance and accessories for the self and home. All Aesop products are vegan. We do not test on animals and only use ingredients with a proven record of safety, efficacy and sustainability. We are on a journey to reduce our footprint on the planet that generously sustains us. So far, our progress has led to Aesop becoming a certified B Corp™. Alongside our commercial activities, we explore and support the arts as an avenue through which to inspire, learn and communicate. We are headquartered across two locations—Melbourne and London—with satellite offices and stores in many parts of the world, including New York, Paris, Tokyo and Hong Kong.

Worlds revealed through scent. 

Othertopias is a collection of six fragrances inspired by worlds that transcend time and place. Distinctive and unorthodox, they are a co-creation with our long-term fragrance collaborator, Barnabé Fillion. 

Ouranon Eau de Parfum is the final instalment of Othertopias, transporting wearers to a stone circle at night, lit by unfurling embers, whose aroma commingles with those of Frankincense and Myrrh.

Until 9 July, Aesop Marina Bay Sands is hosting an artful installation that gives fresh purpose to discarded materials—an ode to conscious craftsmanship, purpose-driven design and social responsibility. 

In line with Aesop’s dedication to reducing our environmental impact and increasing our social commitments, we have collaborated with local carpentry firm Roger & Sons to create a display that brings together an assemblage of furniture using salvaged trees that were cut down for urban development. 

As a modest gesture of support, these unique creations will be donated to Kampung Senang Charity and Education Foundation and Children's Wishing Well when this initiative comes to a close.

The Aesop Queer Library 2023, in collaboration with the ACLU.
 
As part of this year’s US and Canada edition of the Aesop Queer Library, which offers complimentary LGBTQIA2S+ books—including many that have been banned in various settings, it has been a privilege to collaborate with the ACLU Foundation. This organisation works to defend freedom of expression, both in the courts and beyond—including the Right to Learn campaign, which seeks to withstand increased calls for the censorship of LGBTQIA2S+ stories.  
 
As a mark of support and solidarity, the Aesop Foundation has donated USD $100,000 to the ACLU Foundation, guided by our long-standing belief that access to stories by underrepresented groups is essential to cultivating empathy, understanding and self-affirmation. 
  
The Aesop Queer Library is open at our stores in Silver Lake (Los Angeles), Williamsburg, (New York) and Yorkville (Toronto) until 25 June.

B Corp Month 2023: highlighting what it means for companies to ‘Go Beyond’ for People and Planet. 

In our case, this involves reducing our emissions (and aiming to reach net zero by 2030), adopting circular principles (with refill trials underway in two of our Australian stores), and setting up ephemeral Queer Libraries and Women’s Libraries across the globe. Yet no matter how far we have come—alongside our Natura &Co community of Natura, Avon and The Body Shop—this month is a reminder of how much remains to be done: we go beyond, but our sustainability journey continues into the far yonder.

Aesop Covent Garden in full Mother’s Day garb. 

As the UK prepares to celebrate mothers of all stripes this weekend, delicate eucalyptus trees stand in the window of three London stores. Their dusty green leaves offer a lightly enveloping aroma, and as the days get longer, the abundant display is a welcome reminder to locals that spring will soon greet them.

The Aesop Foundation: a year in review. 

From the invasion of Ukraine to the fall of Roe v. Wade, flooding in Pakistan, and the recent earthquakes in Turkey and Syria, 2022 was a turbulent year across the globe. The Aesop Foundation has worked with 40 charity partners in its efforts to support the communities affected by such events, donating over USD$3.2 million.  

Aesop team members are the driving force behind those charitable efforts, and the company continues to match their charitable donations—whether made personally, or as part of special events such as the Tour d’Aesop bike ride—raising USD$100,000 this year. Apart from these financial donations, store and office employees have also given their time, each taking an average of over two days’ volunteering leave in 2022. As Aesop continues to grow, so too will efforts to support those facing crises and inequality, with a focus on defending human rights, developing literacy, and protecting the environment. A heartfelt thank you to all involved.
