Air Astana has been training future pilots under the ab-initio programme since 2008, and so far 270 cadets have completed it, 65 of whom have already become captains. Training takes place in the best flight schools in Europe for 16 to 18 months.

Air Astana engineers performed the first 6 Year C-Check in the airline's history on an Airbus A321 at the Technical Centre in Astana. This is a comprehensive structural aircraft inspection during which they carried out more than 800 complex tasks to modify aircraft systems, replace structural elements of the luggage compartment and cabin, and ensure the aircraft’s continued safety.

The 6 Year C-Check involved 35 qualified specialists, some of whom were trained under the Air Astana aviation technician training programme who have received an EASA Part 66 license.

Air Astana has been carrying out heavy maintenance C1 and C2-Checks at it own centres in Almaty and Astana since 2019. And, over the last five years heavy maintenance checks have been carried out on 24 aircraft. In 2024 eight Airbus family aircraft will be overhauled, three of which will undergo the 6 Year C-Check.
