During a Future Travel Experience panel discussion yesterday, industry leaders highlighted the Curaçao Express Pass program's impact on tourism and border security: Gabriel Wichrowski from Airside, an Entrust Company , said, "Our privacy-by-design tech aligns with Curaçao’s data privacy vision, empowering users with full data control. No central databases — just user-controlled, consent-based sharing directly from devices, ensuring GDPR compliance. Our partnership with Curaçao and Vision-Box places us at the forefront of digital identity innovation, launching a fully operational system — an industry breakthrough. We set a record three days ago, doubling our previous high in traveler throughput." Gerold Daantje, Director of Public Safety, Security, and Law Enforcement from #CuracaoMininstryofJustice , said, "An airport is like a country in itself, involving government agencies, aviation authorities, customs, and privately owned companies handling passengers. Our solution had to be efficient, digitally advanced, and proactive—ensuring smooth processing, resource allocation, and a balance of safety with customer experience.” Priscilla Duin-Circkens from Curacao Airport Holding said, "Since launching in July 2024, we’ve optimized every aspect—from system errors to queue management. With software updates from Vision-Box and Airside, over 80% of passengers now enjoy a fully contactless, 10-second eGate experience, down from 40 seconds. To date, 2,112 passengers worldwide have joined via organic search." Jean-François (Jeff) Lennon from Vision-Box, an AMADEUS company , said, “The Curaçao Express Pass brings a decade-long vision of seamless, secure travel to life. By integrating Vision-Box’s Seamless Journey Platform and Gates with Airside’s privacy-first technology, travelers walk through immigration with speed and confidence, reducing queues and enhancing efficiency.” Curaçao Express Pass is the world’s first fully operational, mobile-based biometric border-crossing system. Travelers use the free Entrust Airside Digital Identity App to pre-enroll passports, allowing for seamless clearance through contactless eGates powered by Vision-Box technology upon arrival. As Curaçao sees record tourism numbers, with 1.76 million passengers in 2023, the Curaçao Express Pass is a key component in the island’s strategy to increase visitor volumes while ensuring a secure, hassle-free experience.
