By using readily available, inherently non-flammable and non-toxic materials, Alsym is working to deliver performance comparable with lithium ion at a much lower cost—something no other technology can do.

In a proactive move to enhance safety and protect communities, San Diego is considering new regulations for lithium-ion battery storage facilities. 

New zoning regulations would limit where lithium-ion battery storage facilities can be located, and new laws are intended govern the sale, storage, use, rental and disposal of such batteries.

It's an exciting time for energy storage in the United States 🔋⚡️📈

According to American Clean Power Association (ACP), for the first three quarters of the 2023 combined a total of 4,500MW has come online, while last year saw around 4,000MW come online. By MWh capacity, this year has seen around 13,000MWh come online versus 12,000MWh for the whole of 2022.

Meanwhile, the BESS development pipeline in the US has grown by 50% YoY to around 21.5GW/62.1GWh. Experts at NREL believe we need approximately 930 GW of energy storage capacity for an electric system almost completely powered by renewables.

Two influential U.S. senators urged the Energy Department to take steps to boost U.S. battery manufacturing and next-generation battery research, according to a letter seen by Reuters.

The recent letter also said "it is critical that the U.S. lead in next-generation battery technology and alternative chemistries" and coordinate with the Department of Defense and other national security agencies "to support procurement of innovative, U.S.-developed energy storage technologies."
